It's the idol makeover, as usual.

The makeover is more than just clothes, hair, and makeup. It's also poise, self-confidence, and stage presence, all of which only come with time and practice.

Rina needed all of that, of course, and it's starting to really kick in for her. But Ayumi also needed some softening because she started off too sharp and fox-like. Her only experience before MM was as a back-up dancer, so she needed to be sharp to get attention. Now that she has attention, she can relax, let more of her personality show, and generally be more kawaii (literally "adorable").
