I don't think it's close to being as good as the original, but it has it's moments (Kanon's first line being the best part to me). I'm really just happy to see the song included in something again.

I've to admit i never really paid much attention to kanon vocal wise (not that they give us much opportunities there anyway ) but i was under the impression she has a strong but deep voice, never expected her to sound this errmm..delicate?

So for me:

Ayumi and Sayumi were the best performances. Ayumi's high notes were really done nicely.
All the other girls especially Riho still have a lot of work to do in terms of singing.
The Sakura Mankai performance was nice, and Haruna sounded alright up until the chorus same goes for chocolate damashii.
Reina's performance wasn't her best either.

Yeah Zukki's line sounded good in Sakura Mankai, but her solo song was really meh

And average fan looks past Kanon for obvious reasons. But that girl, when the stars align and the moon is high, she brings it like Riho only wishes she could bring. I can't wait for the next few years because she's only going to get better.

I hope they bring these gumi groups back for the MM concert, so much love for the Gumis! If Tsunku adds more then a few girls for the next gen, I really would love to see them return for real.

I can see why Tsunku isn't fronting Haruka yet, she's good but she's not really able to control her voice at all. It waffles a lot.

Mizuki was pretty great though, so why she's not given more lines, I don't know? I guess the fact that she's being Sayumi's harmony shadow is her role. Which I like by the way because I'd imagine since I doubt Reina will ever be leader, that Mizuki will need to learn as much as possible from Sayumi in order to take over leadership one day. (That sounds so foreign even thinking about it, but it will happen one day!)

Sayumi started crying because of thinking of Eri during the song. Sayu's crying affected Harunan and Fuku-chan (Fuku-chan cried during the MC, shes an Eri fan) during their songs.

I love Zukki but she sounded not that great, last high "morning curry" was great though. but in Sakura mankai her Yaguchi's line was p-e-r-f-e-c-t
Eripon and Ayu sounded a lot better from what I expected.
and I cried with Sayu too her singing before tears were good.

Finally got around to listening to everybody. And I basically think what I thought before. Mizuki, Haruka, and Kanon have the potential to be great, but they still kind of suck right now. And the others ... well, they'll improve, but I seriously doubt they can get as good as I need them to be. Arrrgh. This is so frustrating. Somebody vocally acceptable better come in with the 11th generation so she can be my new favorite. Or maybe I should take like a five year break from Morning Musume.

Also, apropos of that T-shirt, when Japanese performers have a name with an intonation like 1234-5, e.g. Shibasaki Kou or Hagiwara Mai, it always seems strange to me when they write it in Western order. Saying "Mai Hagiwara" is like saying "5-1234", it just sounds...wrong.
