Speaking of which: I just got my copy in the mail today.
I'm impressed with how they were able to add in Karin and Mai almost seamlessly to most shots.
Not only on the cover, but on the poster and the various group shots as well.
Had I not known they were not present at the original shoot, I would never had noticed.
They even had the guts to put Karin in the center most spot on the poster and cover.
You can see in the making-of above how they leave space for her to be added in later.
Very well done.

They've been reading mails on H!S in English for like a month now. I'm kinda surprised they read them as well as they do, all things considered.

Not to rain on the parade, because I think it's cool regardless, but I feel pretty confident that they're not really "reading English" per se, but sounding out a katakana transliteration.

I don't think you can really tell either way. They could have just been coached them or just practiced it. It doesn't matter. All the girls handle English in there own.
