It's likely that, in Kishimoto's former elementary school, the cut-off date was April 1st rather than March 31st.

The general "rule" is that you're considered "born early" up until April 1st. If she would have been born April 2nd she would have been one school year lower.

^ not exactly. Captain is a Hello! Project Advisor (along with Chinami). she happened to have involvement in selecting the name & members for this group as part of her duties, but only time will tell if she has any involvement beyond that.

^ good point, i meant to mention that earlier. people seem to have forgotten that Captain was involved with picking both the members & group name for Kobushi Factory. ^^; that happened before the Berryz grad, and if i remember correctly they only said she "participated" in the decisions, so who knows to what degree her input was taken into account... but she was definitely involved.

i haven't checked out translations this time around. was it specifically stated/insinuated that Captain was the MAIN person in charge of deciding the members & group name for Tsubaki Factory? or similarly to with Kobushi, was it more just generally stated that she was involved in the decision-making process?

Maimi didn't have anything to do with the forming of Kobushi Factory. She just delivered the news that they were chosen.
