Hinafes day 1 unit reviews:

Maria: She didn't do as badly as naysayers said she would. It started out good but she lost stamina quickly. She's an ace already. Look at her.

Meimi/Akane: At first, I thought the unit was unbalanced as Meimi is a powerhouse and Akane isn't particularly known for her singing. In the end, I felt like Meimi performed under her ability (or maybe I overestimated her). Akane's voice is surprisingly deep. She's not bad, but she's still average.

Peaberry+Kanon. I didn't expect that song and I was very pleased. I was in tears because I love this song so much and it was the first time I heard it in a long time. I should have known Zukki would end up with breadcrumbs as lines, though. Also, I felt Riho's voice just didn't fit the song. Ayacho did a heartfelt performance, as usual, and Zukki was clearly the best.

Colour me surprised that the Tanpopo performance finished without cutting to Karin everytime Kanon sang. Someone dropped the ball on drinking the Karin-aid today.

I liked Meimi... Don't know what haterade y'all are sippin'...
The only awkward part for me was watching it as a duet when im so used to it being a quartet.

Also, Tanpopo was fine but I do think UF* dropped a ball. Obviously the girls were okay with a Zukki lead when they chose the name (don't say it was just a name, the girls are smart enough to understand what's in a name).

Lastly Maria was cute, and I like her tone of voice. She didn't have the same trepidation that Akane had and was definitely loving doing a solo but I agree that she doesn't have the stamina or technique yet to pull it off completely; especially not a Maki solo. You could maybe cutesy your way out of an early Ayaya song but Maki's discography tend to be heavier hitting. I'm excited to see what Maria has in store.

^ I think its just that we've heard better of Meimi so that the standard for her are kinda high as a singer. Definitely liked her performance here but I agree that she definitely has sounded better in other songs, so people say this is probably a song style that she is weak against (but doesnt completely mean she botched up the performance on anything, just relatively not her usual level)

I agree with pretty much most of you said: Maria sounding good but definitely has room for improvement (though, that's the point of idol-ness where they will grow to get better) and that Akane wasnt bad either.
