shadow HP needs to chill on The Girls live appearances though...

it was cool seeing them perform Shabondama in casual outfits like the original idea.

I'd add Bitter & Sweet and LoVendoЯ to that list. But to elaborate…

If you're American or otherwise live in a country that does not have a parliamentary system of government, you might be unfamiliar with the term "shadow cabinet": the opposition or minority party designates various members who "shadow" the official cabinet ministers, effectively saying "This is how we would do things if we were in charge."

(In America, where the executive and legislative branches are separate and equal and often controlled by opposing parties anyhow, we don't have an equivalent.)

That's what Up-Front is kinda sorta doing with Kikka et al. They're not really indie, because they still work for Up-Front and are closely associated with Hello! Project, but they act like they are. They're outside the regular Hello! Project structure, and they're not produced by Tsunku, so they can do things differently.

Thus, they are what I've been calling the shadow H!P.

I see, I see. Seeing as they aren't selling as well as H!P, that means that the way "up front would do things if they were in charge" isn't working? :P

Chisato Okai – Afro no Hen (16, 23 Oct 2014)

The quoted exchange starts at 19:25 in the second part.

There are many other jabs, including "Yajima is the pretty one, Okai is the funny one" and talk about how her odotte mita videos got more views than the official MVs.

I'm more interested, however, in how proud she looks whenever the guest wota talks about the history and reputation of Hello! Project. Apparently they are well known for being a classy operation.

Both parts together make for a rather in-depth talk about Chisato and her career so far.

Part 3! (30 Oct 2014)

Also, the continuing adventures of Sumo-Neko, featuring Airi…

The argument over whether or not "SHadow H!P" is worse is really a subjective one. H!P mostly works because of a steadfast Brand loyalty - any idol group or soloist that flies under it's flag is guaranteed at least 20k sales right out the gate due to many many people who will support the act simply because its H!P (I'm completely guilty of this). In a way H!P is pretty successful in that regard. Shadow H!P has the support of a lot of H!P wota's but not all of them and instead of looking at sales (Which are pretty decent for indies) we need to look at the production in order to have the conversation over what's "better", really.

If we're looking at it with stone cold logic, regular H!P is DOING better and in the public eye much more, but there are a lot of factors as to why that is. Whether or not one is ACTUALLY better than the other though, is purely opinion (And would be an interesting convo if it didn't devolve into a flame war).

...Oh, well... I never said "H!P is better than "Shadow H!P""...
I said that H!P is doing better than "shadow H!P", which means that whatever shadow H!P is doing probably isn't working as well?

I said nothing about "worse" or "better" :/
(sorry if I made it seem that way o:)
