That hotel isn't actually in Manhattan. It's across the river in Queens, but just a few subway stops from the concert.

Yeah, it's across a body of water, for sure. Sorry, I don't know NY's geography really, so I guess it's not Manhattan? I just know the address to tell Google to take me to. :hehe:

Manhattan's an island with no rivers to speak of. So anything that's across a body of water from it is not-Manhattan.

:fear:

I'll attempt to educate myself about New York and its precious waterways.

And then there was the Manhattan District, which, like everything else connected with the Manhattan Project, was nowhere near Manhattan. Which is probably why they chose the name, since it gave away absolutely nothing. :fear:

Yes, you can ALWAYS ignore Staten Island

Your final exam will entail a partial Eulerian path traversal so get cracking! :geek:

New York City scares the crap out of me. It’s impossible to drive around it (as in bypass it completely; go around it etc.). It’s too fricking big. When I drove cross country and I tried to get from Maine to Atlantic City I could not bypass going to NYC. Every road took me there and it was in 100 degree heat too. It was like being in the Twilight Zone. I finally gave up trying. It was miserable. I remember crossing some bridge in bumper to bumper traffic, crawling along at a snails pace, and the toll was $14.00 for a car. I thought that can’t be right but it was. It’s probably $140.00 by now. Of course I ended up in Manhattan where I didn't want to be.

Taking the 95, when you got to the 287 you were supposed to take that due west to the Tappan Zee bridge, which would take you across the Hudson into Nyack, right above Bergen County in NJ. You'd miss NYC entirely. The toll on the Tappan Zee's only five bucks.

Sounds like you went all the way through Manhattan, took the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn, took the $15 Verrazano into Staten Island, crossed Staten Island, and probably took the Goethals Bridge which is another toll, finally onto the NJ Turnpike. Yeah, sounds like a nightmare.

ASIDE FROM HELLO!PARTY are there any planned meetups?

If not, I'd love to organize one! Things to do:
Visit Kinokuniya
Go to Karaoke in Korea-town
[window] Shop at Tokyo Rebel/Baby The Stars Shine Bright
Get a bite at the Maid Cafe
Generally get acquainted with each other (and for you out of towners, get a feel for the city).

eh? eh? Who's in?

yanno, I actually passed by Kinokuniya yesterday, had no clue what it was, but totally realized it was a Japanese name for a book store. XD
I'd totally be in, but I can't do a few of the things, and I would have school the next day, so I'll have to see my time. :P

Speaking of which-
We need to find a way to organize a waiting group at the theater, because when I passed by it didn't seem like there was much room the stand, but i could be wrong. :P We should all hold up giant signs saying "JPLOPPERS" XD

As for Boinsie,
there is "manhattan" and then there is "New York City".
New York City consists of 5 boroughs.
Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island.
So you could say "I got a hotel in NYC and it's 30 minutes away"
if you say "I got a hotel in Manhattan", it means in the island itself. :3
