^ probably was too small to write yomigana above the already small names.

Sayashi is supposedly a rare name, right? also, my computer has trouble with "iikubo" when i type it out, but it's with the "ii" rather than the "kubo". i find this odd because it does just fine when i type "iida", which uses the same first kanji (飯田 and 飯窪). anyway, it being the same "ii" as "iida" is probably the reason why she didn't need to write katakana for that.

Yeah, 鞘師 doesn't seem to be that popular of a surname. When you search on Google you only really get Riho.

Same with 飯窪 -- most results on Google are Haruna.

Yep. Some specifics:
Estrea @ JPHiP wrote:- Deli-kun converses with Riho over the stuff she scribbled about herself, Deli-kun decides to ask questions to put her at ease and also introduce Riho to the audience
-- her family name "Sayashi"
-- apparently it's a very rare surname, and Riho apparently researched the prevalence of it, and there's not more than 12 households in Japan bearing that name, and Riho knows all of them. They're all her relatives! XD
-- Deli-kun asks her about the origin of the name, apparently an ancestor of hers was a maker of scabbards in Himeji castle. Scabbard = Saya, hence, Sayashi as "maker of scabbards".

I always have a heck of a time with Ichii Sayaka's given name. My computer is willing to give me 紗香 right off the bat, but not the 耶 between them. I invariably end up cutting and pasting her name.

Is that what they are? And here I've been thinking all these years that they're a kind of food. No wonder they taste so awful.

...then by that logic, everyone in Japan and countries close to Japan should know the girls' names?

There is really no reason why she would be obligated to know the newer members' names. I shouldn't need to keep up with new things going on at my old job unless somehow it concerns my current job, and Miki doesn't work with the newer girls regularly. Probably too busy being pregnant and being a mom in the recent years.

Exactly -- if you're a fan, maybe you study everything about new group members unless you're a bad, lazy fan like me, but if you're there, and part of the organization, you get to know new people by contact -- and if you don't have much contact with them (and are busy with what you're doing), you probably don't get to know them very well -- and if you do, it's after repeated contact over time.

usually people don't admit it though, since it makes it seem like you don't care about your own group (unless it's a thing they're using for comedy purposes). but Miki will be Miki and without her "so?" attitude she wouldn't be the same. :mikihead:

That's true -- which means that she's actually doing her part by keeping up her role as Baaaaaaad Miki. XD
