I'm not saying they didn't deserve to be on Kouhaku or anything, but really -- I'm not surprised. Would I have liked them to be on it? Hell yeah, I would've. I'm just not surprised they aren't.

Next year, though? If they keep up this momentum they better fucking well be on.

It's up to MM to make Kouhaku an irrelevance by just continuing to churn out excellent singles and increasingly fantastic performance levels. I agree though the best bet will be if C-ute especially keep upping their game this year (who knows where Ju=Ju can go after such a great start) then we might see H!P get in as a package next year. MM's public profile was a supertanker headed in the wrong direction and it's taken until only the latter half of this year to really see that tanker start actually turning around, it's not enough yet for them to be an obvious choice.

And having THREE 48 groups in the kouhaku just feels wrong. It's like a monopoly and it's not E-girls but nmb who took the "idol" slot that MM was aiming for...

If Up Front really had any hope that MM would be on this year they wouldn't have planned the countdown concerts on the same day. So no surprise here that they didn't make it.

E-Girls are just in the lucky position that they get a lift from on EXILE to all these shows, including the Kohaku. Although they did have a couple of hits this year. It's not like they will go complely undeserved.
