I really hate how people keep acting/talking about her as though she went from 10 to 200kg or something. Just get over it.
Japan's ideal of being as skinny as possible is fucked up anyway, about time someone who looks more healthy than sick gets attention for it.
Also loling forever at Taiwanese news using footage from youtube that's most likely not official lol. The bustour thing.

the Taiwan news likes to make up news about MM. please don't post that here. SMAP Kusanagi is not related to Riho.

^ Please explain to me which part of this was "made up". As far as I can tell, it's a real media report about a real cultural phenomenon. Some fans may not like it, but that won't make it go away. So it will be posted.

Sure, that other report was goofy and misguided, but that does not invalidate the entire nation of Taiwan forever and ever. I know you like to hold your little grudges, but what the f…

Oh my god, this is just insane. Making comparisons of Zukki and the other girls, who is still a schoolgirl... The same they did to Aibon, and I'm sure it didn't help her at all.

But I think this kind of things are really accepted there. I remember a show where a group of chubby girls had to learn Asian Celebration's dance, and they were all crying "Ahhh I'm fat and I can't do it.", and it was a big drama with members of Berryz crying as well... I seriously freaked out. But I guess it's something normal there. :/

It has become normal, yes. Because Japan was greatly influenced by the West in the mid 1900s and from then it just escalated. And these days it's like even if you're not overweight or even close to it you should work to lose weight. Skinny = better no matter what. It's fucked up. I hope they're changing little by little, though.
Having big idols like Yamapi say on TV that he prefers girls who are a bit "rounder" (ie. healthier) probably helps too, though. Even if just his fanbase.

I feel so bad for Kanon. The yahoo article was fine, but the Taiwanese report was a bit over the top.

Like the way they got the 2ch photos of her being "fat" then circling over it with a cursor, like can you not?

I don't understand a lick of chinese but how is this a favorable progression from the generally positive article on yahoo's video topics that you quoted?
Just from the video's title and way the video is edited it's obvious it's reporting on Zukki's weight gain, apropos of nothing... anyone mind elaborating on the tone of the voiceover?

 I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about Kanon Suzuki.
She has proven that she is Morning Musume material.

In a way it is negative publicity, and I know I'd be super depressed if that was me. I really hope she's okay , I miss goofy Kanon. But yeah she's already proven herself as a member of Morning Musume, and not that many young people or individuals with "a little size" to them can say they are part of a group who has three consecutive number one singles an has sold millions over the years
