I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but having 9/10 for the Budōkan concert and "ºC-ute Day" is very fitting and clearly deliberate, since the numbers play on the group's name:

9 = kyū (Sino-Japanese, on-yomi)
10 = tō (native Japanese, kun-yomi)

o_o I thought... everyone knew that by now since they've done Cute no hi things ever since... 2006.

For the record, it's not like they're going out of their way to come up with it either as it's September 10th, which in Japanese would be 9月10日 - Ku/Kyuu-gatsu Too-ka. Which, if you take the numbers: Kyuu-too.... Yeah.
(Like, it wouldn't make sense to say it the other way the numbers are read: kokono-gatsu and juu-nichi. "Juu-nichi" if anything would be the most reasonable one, but that's not how you say the 10th so. lol)

Well, there are newer fans around here who might not know that, as well as older fans with poor memories, such as myself.

According to my arsenal of reference books, though, September is always Kugatsu and never Kyūgatsu, just as 九時 "7 o'clock" is always kuji and never kyūji.

Be that as it may, any possible reading of a Japanese number is fair game for punning with names or words. To give an H!P example, 510 as a representation of 後藤 Gotō merely takes the readings of numbers that most closely resemble the syllables of the name; the juxtaposition of on-yomi with kun-yomi is irrelevant. An even better example is 22 Tsuji, which uses even more unusual readings: tsu is an approximation of English "two" and ji is an on-yomi of 二 that (as far as I know) only occurs in proper names like Eiji 英二. They do a lot of stuff like this with phone numbers in Japan, so it's certainly nothing out of the ordinary.

No one says it as "kyuu-gatsu" as far as I know, but you can write it that way and it won't come up as wrong? It does seem unnatural though. xD I really left it in for the easy reference to 9 as kyuu as you are more likely to come over people referring to 9 as kyuu than ku, even though that does happen even when it stands on its own.

It's pretty much 9/10 being read as Kyuu/tou and not really the correct way to pronounce the date.

Basically what Erilaz said when he explained 510 being read as Go-tou

But regardless having it officially recognized is cool even if its just symbolic.

They give out days to American idol top 3 finalists like its candy despite the fact that 2/3 of them don't even win and the remaining third dont always have a successful career even though they did win.

Aika?!

In a musical. ON HER OWN???

I say this every so often but I gotta reiterate; there must be something about Aika that UF* really likes. I'm guessing she has great work ethic/work personality. The amount of work that Aika gets baffles me considering how I kinda expected her to be pushed to the wayside after she graduated. Regardless of if she remained under the H!P umbrella or not.
