Berryz's reaction is really disappointing to me. I know they are probably shocked and didn't really know how to act that moment and I'm too used to the overly reacting MM and C-ute .. but Berryz's reaction is not showing much excitement or enthusiasm.

Probably because they too know that they havent exactly earned performing in the budoukan, and so they were wondering why they got that accomplishment way before they were due for it. Or it could be shock.

Chinami's tweet was pretty good though.

Edit: seeing Sohee's translation though, they could also just be stressed with the challenge it seems Tsunku has presented them. Having to prove that you're serious about idoldom is going to be tough for Berryz, who have been complacent for a while. This kick in the pants may just be what they need, and something that we have been discussing ad nauseum here on jplop lol its almost as if UF has been reading.

Wtf. Takechan is literally spazzing. Tsunku was right, she's doing this thing where it looks like shes doing a completely different dance by trying to hard.

C-ute single seems interesting. S/mileage's new single looks good. I actually like Sayonara Uotsuki(?). It seems really good! Im impressed!

The announcement part.

He quotes one of the girls, saying that they'll do their best this year etc in a very mocking way. Then goes on saying, that anyone could have a concert at Budoukan. But unless they make people actually show up at their concerts, it won't matter. Then asks if they're actually serious about wanting to have a concert at Budoukan. To which all of them say that they are. However it hardly comes off that way, which makes Tsunku fall silent and Momoko reads the atmosphere, saying that they ARE serious and then asking in a very Momochi-way if it isn't obvious. Tsunku goes on saying that since C-ute have theirs booked they can afford to be a bit laid back, which makes C-ute shake their heads and say that they can't afford to be that way at all and that they're worried about if they'll fill it up at all.
Then Tsunku continues to tease, wondering if C-ute really weren't disappointed that they would have to sing Chou HAPPY SONG with Berryz when they're obviously on different levels. C-ute obviously denies this being true lol.

Tsunku then turns to Berryz, saying that he came to confirm how Berryz' motivation is and how the fans feel. Then he asks if it seems like the fans would be able to support Berryz. Fans give "Yays" and clap hands. Tsunku asks if they're serious and louder cheers. He turns to ask Berryz if they're serious, to which they again give quiet nods and answers "We are."
Tsunku goes to C-ute, acting as though Berryz' aren't really serious, making Chisato say that it's not like that but that they probably can't believe that this discussion is being held. Then a joke about letting Momochi apologize etc etc.

Tsunku says that if they're serious, they'll do Budoukan on this special day: Ii(11) Tsunku(29) no hi (good Tsunku day). Then he says that if Berryz' aren't being serious about it, they'll have Sharan Q do the concert instead (though this I'd take as a joke lol).



To me, while it's all pretty lightheartedly said, this came off as quite a scolding of Berryz - in public, too. Telling them that they're not doing enough. Probably Budoukan will help and make them more motivated.

I agree completely, he basically said that it's not enough bantering on their blogs how much they want to perform in Budokan too and how they'll work harder from now. In the end what matter the most is whether they'll be able to attract fans to fill the thing up or not. Their reactions, for me, shows their uneasiness and doubt of the prospect instead of feeling any sense of achievement and getting all excited like C-ute.

In short, the feeling I get from Tsunku is "You think you can do it? Fine, go ahead but whatever the result, I hope you understand the full meaning of it."
It's more like a challenge than a reward.

Man, I love Tsunku.

I'm actually shocked by how much I like S/mileage's and Berryz's new songs (except Golden Chinatown).
I haven't been this excited and content for new releases in a really long time. I hope they all kick ass on Oricon.

I think all this was planned by Tsunku. Making a big drama out of what he himself started by awardning Budokan to C-ute. A big gamble put it looks like it is paying off. Its generating huge interest in the industry and fans. Berryz is currently one of the most senior, if not the most senior, idol group. This news already obtained the 5th spot on Oricon's most accessed news ranking for today.
