Not slowing it down with the fanservice at all I see.

I think you guys are looking at it wrong. You're so accustomed to it being about the girl (you're idol fans, after all) that you're vaguely annoyed when it's not.
On this show it's about the guy and all the grief he's going through as not only a hormone-crazed teenager but also a barely-in-control esper. ManoEri is just background (so far) as the object of his crush. And in that sense, it seems rather clever and sweet.
(I know someone else already said basically the same thing, but I'm on my phone here and cannot easily go back to look.)

Uh no, I just think the show sucks based on its own merits.
I usually have no problem with fanservices or highschool hijinks comedy but the way those things are done in the series does nothing for me. The story reminds me of something I've seen hundreds of time before and the cast/acting is nothing special so yeah...
