This morning I went to a program of short films at the Albany Film Fest, the first of which was Lahmajune, a 19-minute documentary about Partamian Armenian Bakery in Los Angeles. When owner Leon Partamian passed away, he left the bakery to his two longtime Mexican employees, who continued the tradition of making lahmajoun, sou-beoreg, yalanchi, etc. for another decade, until they retired last year.

I didn't expect to see anyone I knew in the film, but one of the interviewees was Fr. Vartan Kasparian, who was the priest at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church in Yettem when I was growing up in nearby Visalia, and he was the teacher when I took Armenian language classes as a teenager. I last saw him at my aunt's funeral in October.

I've been having a lot of salads lately in order to use up ingredients on hand, and at this point I can't imagine caesar salad without pistachios.

I don't know the exact date, but I have to call her tomorrow so I'll probably find out then.

It's Monday and I've now left 2 messages for her. I've yet to receive a call back. I guess I'll try again in the morning?

I saw the neurosurgeon this morning, and he's gonna put in an order for a CT and an MRI.
The woman who takes care of the insurance stuff is out today, but should be getting to work on the peer-to-peer tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
However, he said if I end up needing surgery, he won't be doing it since my hardware is so extensive. He'd send me over to UF Health Shands Hospital, which is already a problem since I don't see my insurance on their list.

I broke the screen of my cellphone the other day. First time I’ve ever cracked the screen. That’s an achievement in terms of iPhones. It wasn’t too bad. I could live with it.

Well today in my stupidity I forgot I had removed my screen protector and accidentally dropped my phone again. Instead of landing on its back it went face first and shattered the poor screen. Now I’ll need to get a new phone. Not idle but I’ve been wanting an upgrade for a few years so I guess it’s fate telling me it’s time.

PS. Never get glass screen protectors. I’ve had nothing but trouble with them.

I finally found out my case is no longer in the "development" stage, so now I have an actual attorney! His assistant is supposed to call me soon to go over medical things.
My hearing is scheduled for August 19th, and there'll be a pre-hearing conference about a month before that. Hopefully I know what's going on with my back by then!
I'm kinda glad it's farther down the line, cause I was worried it might cut into some other plans I have in the early summer.

Went to my GI doctor yesterday and went over the biopsies from a couple weeks ago. Aside from obvious inflammation, everything was normal. No gluten allergies!
I got another order for labs since I couldn't find time to do them with the last order. If my iron is still low, he told me I'll probably have to swallow one of those pill cameras. Neat!
