It's almost as if they were unsure about the success of ChaCha Sing, since it was in the same vein as Be Genki, yet Genki did terribly. Or maybe it's the girls themselves pushing for more grown up material, since they're grown up now (Cap'ns comment of "please pay attention to the sexy berry-chans" comes to mind). Berryz does so well as the fun group though, and should just sell comedic elements more. They really could be the female K8 equivalent, with serious/sexy album songs that are awesome, but fun and wacky singles to draw people in. This would also involve developing Maasa, Chinami and Momochi as comedic characters more though lol.
I am hoping that this is what this single does, but so far the concert rip just sounds weird lol. We probably just need a better quality rip, and a funny pv to have it set to.

If they were unsure about the success of cha cha SING, well, like I've said before their best selling songs are stuff like Otakebi Boy WAO!, Jingisukan and Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance - I really wouldn't group Be Genki with those, I'd group it with Rival and Gag 100kaibun. Now, the girls wanting to do more serious stuff can be a possibility, but when asked about their favorite songs that's usually not the case, I remember Mythology and Yo no Naka Barairo being the most common answers for their favorite song from their 8th album, those are very Berryz-sounding actually. And well, Momo loves stuff like Momoiro Kataomoi, lol.

To be fair, if you look at the 1st half of their discography you see a very eclectic mix of singles. Tsunku did like to change it up with almost every single up to Dschinghis Khan, in a way doing this again is like going back to the roots of Berryz Kobo.

I've only watched the bit of performance from the concert digest, so far, but my first thought was "rm88 is going to hate this!!

"
Now to listen to the concert rip.
EDIT: I like the song, but the backing track recorded too quietly in the concert rip. Need to hear it louder. Backing track sounds hot, from what I can hear, though. All the English bits are cool.

I actually don't hate it

Everything seems like an improvement over WANT!, but yeah, my plan to buy multiple versions of this (based on absolutely nothing) has transformed into an iTunes purchase.

I don't think it's as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Kinda sounds like Tsunku funk with some Techno drops. Could be good.

What's up with Tsunku, for real? Regardless of my personal taste, WANT! and this are so weak sounding, they're really not much better than stuff like Shy Boy or Joshikai The Night. If Berryz is going to get "cool" songs then give them songs that can match the stuff Morning Musume is getting.

If he wants to dabble in his version of K-Pop, of course he's going to give it to the group with Miyabi, Risako, and Captain. C-ute is too busy swapping between good songs and "being (cover)artists", and MM is too youthfilled to hit the sexy lady vibe.

K-Pop and Berryz.
