Judging from the comments on YouTube and 2ch he's putting some real presure on the girls especially the new members. He's comparing them with Morning Musume, since they are in the same situation with 2 original members and new members. Specifically pointing out that MMs tour is already sold out and S/mileage's tour isn't. He's clearly pushing the girls to do better to change this situation.

Since Kana has been behind since the start this message hits her more since she will most likely think that she''s holding the group back.

Considering the amount of people (or the loudness of some very vocal minority, take your pick) declaring Morning Musume to be a sinking ship over the years and the fact that 9 out of 11 members now are indeed newbies with less than 2years of major experience, i don't think it's such a bad idea to start thinking of them as an equally "new group" to be compared with S/mileage.
At the very least performance level wise, just to keep the girls motivated. Musical style/quality and promotion quantities on the other hand are completely in the management's hand so yeah MM definitely has an edge there with all their traditions and histories for whatever its worth these days

S/mileage goes to some significantly smaller venues, you could say that this evens out the situation.

But you are ofcourse correct that it's harder for them to sell out concerts outside of Greater Tokyo. The fans are where the events are and Morning Musume is still more national recognized.


You could also argue that it was Tsunku himself that created this situation, this year he gave Morning Musume the better songs, before it was S/mileage that got the better songs. That MM gained more fans and that S/mileage might have lost a few can also be contributed to Tsunku because of this.
