I think it may be time for an order.

But somehow, I was saying something serious. They really lost an opportunity of doing something funny: when you say pen, you think PPAP, that's just crystal clear. I'm sure that, should that have been another agency, they would have done that.

Not really. When I think of PPAP, it seems like a joke on how English is taught in Japan. Japanese stationery is a whole 'nother thing.

You're saying the connection is crystal clear. I'm saying it's not.

I may be exaggerating a little bit when I say crystal clear, but when you're a producer wanting to promote idols, if you don't think about that, you don't do your job properly.

I think it's the work of the producer to have the thought of pen → pen pineapple apple pen. Of course I'm not saying they should have done that in the stationery shop, but I don't see why it would be a bad thing to include it.

Plus PPAP is just like everywhere at the moment.

You're making that connection in your own mind because either a) you're thinking about it only in English and therefore putting way too much emphasis on "pen" or b) you don't realize how much of a phenomenon Japanese stationery is in its own right. You cited me earlier, and I'm telling you as a person you cited, they're two different things. The entire joke of PPAP is that "pen" and "pine" sound similar. That's it. No one other than you (so far) makes the leap from that to the hobby of pen collecting.

EDIT: Oops, Amped cited me. Sorry. That doesn't change my point, though.

I guess I like Riko now. She likes pens, like me. As Amped pointed out. Haha. I was very confused why I was being quoted.

Any time I think pen, I think Eripon. That's my only two cents.

What??? Did I miss something? I thought PPAP was just funny because of its absurdity.

I'll stop here because the discussion didn't make any sense in the first place.
