If Up Front really had any hope that MM would be on this year they wouldn't have planned the countdown concerts on the same day. So no surprise here that they didn't make it.

E-Girls are just in the lucky position that they get a lift from on EXILE to all these shows, including the Kohaku. Although they did have a couple of hits this year. It's not like they will go complely undeserved.

I actually think E-girls deserve that since they will have an arena tour (which means lots of fans) and had great album sales.

NMB48 on the other side, is just an extension of AKB and shouldn't be there imho. SKE was already stretching it and another 48 groups seems like too much, so it'll be way too much ***48 overexposure (remember that akb will not only be there once, they will sing along other performers as well, as they have done on previous years), so expect to see them A LOT

Not necessarily true. The countdown live will start 15:30 and go on until 21:00. And then start up again at 23:00 until 3:00 for Michishige and Iikubo. Had Morning Musume been invited to Kouhaku, they could easily have been gone between 19-20, or 19:30-20:30 without the countdown being effected since I doubt they will have all five H!P groups actively on stage for 5½hrs.
There are several artists who do countdowns at new years eve and still appear on Kouhaku, anyway.

i hate that attitude of "next year" thats bullshit. i want it to be now. i'm sick of waiting. if they start now, then they will keep appearing.
