OK -- I listened to the RR21 remix. Aaaannnnnd....

It sounds like a remix. I generally don't care much for remixes, simply because they always seem to add a bunch of unnecessary and semi-random ornamentation to the original, but I don't hate them. And instrumentally, this one sounds kind of typical -- neither better nor worse.

But I like the vocals -- they're pretty good, and unlike a lot of remixes, they're prominent (not buried in the mix), and they stay pretty close to the original. So all in all, I'd rate it better than most remixes.

What do you guys think about it in comparison to the Shinsei Naru album? I didn't really like those remixes and I like this one alot!

It's too early to tell. I only liked Soku Dakishimete from Shinsei Naru.

When I heard "remixes," I expected remixes, so I'm not surprised. I hoped the vocals would be OK, and the vocals on RR21 are actually pretty good, so if anything, I'm a bit pleasantly surprised in that department.

I think that full rearrangements could be a lot more interesting than remixes (depending of course on the quality and nature of the rerrangement), since a good rearrangement can completely reframe (or even musically rewrite) the song.
Remixes and rearrangements are both experiments, but I think that a rearrangement is an experiment with a broader range of possibilities.
