I just bought this postcard on eBay for a mere $2.99, including shipping:

What's special about it is that my grandfather brought my grandmother to America on the same ship, earlier that same year (1924). In addition to that, the card was written by an Armenian immigrant, which is what my grandparents were.

I recently discovered UNIQLO, and I bought a few things online because I fell in love with the brand after browsing through the site.

It's amazing. A lot of the things are reasonably priced, especially consider how the quality is quite good. I mean, cashmere sweaters and winter jackets aren't going to be cheap anywhere, but some of the more basic things are not expensive.

Oh, and it's a Japanese brand.

I might spend a lot of money there in the near future. :fear:

iTunes card.

With said iTunes card:
Andrew Bird - I Want to See Pulaski at Night
Local Natives - Palms, 11:11, Ingrid

I was 3 cents shy of being able to afford the whole Local Natives album (darn you, tax rate!), but I found the rest of the tracks elsewhere.

This actually arrived a couple of weeks ago, but here's the latest addition to my collection of postal history written in Volapük:

I've been building this particular collection since 1997, and it's generally been slow going, but this year has probably been my best ever, with four postcards and an envelope added to the collection. One of the postcards I scored earlier this year was written by the highest-ranking Volapükist in the U.S. at the time and mailed to the Central Office in Konstanz, Germany — the best (and oldest) piece in this collection to date. You can see the whole collection here.

While I was out Christmas shopping this afternoon, I found a couple of cool old Japanese board books for myself:

On the left is Momotarou, the demon-fighting Peach Boy from the Japanese fairy tale. On the right is Ushiwakamaru, who grew up to become one of Japan's great samurai heroes, Minamoto no Yoshitsune.

Ordered some deposit slips because I've been out for a while. And using my own is more convenient than using the bank's slips.

The Armenian translation of Lewis Carroll's Alice books that I bought on eBay seven weeks ago finally arrived today. It was published in 1994 and is rather hard to find. I just wish it were a more attractive publication.
