Off-topic, duplicate posts (updated 2013-11-03)

Postby Bossy Zunu » Sat May 11, 2013 11:22 am

PLEASE NOTE:

Jplop members are expected to pay attention to make their posts in the appropriate threads, and to not repost information that has been already posted in the appropriate thread(s).
Please be considerate and keep this in mind.
However, this is a casual, relaxed forum.
The mods are all agreed that we have no interest in patrolling the board for inadvertent individual off-topic or duplicate posts, and we ask that the users not do so either.
That is especially the case if the post in question has a logical reason why it might be in a certain thread, even if that's not the best possible thread for it.
Keep in mind as well that a piece of information may legitimately be relevant to two different threads, and that people may not read threads that are not pertinent to their own concerns. In such cases, having the information posted in two different threads may be beneficial, ,or at least, not harmful.

So please, from now, do not report single/individual/accidental posts that are off topic or have been previously posted by another member.
Don't report them, don't draw attention to them, don't make a scene, don't link to the original post unless it contains additional relevant information, and don't PM the mods about the issue.
Simply overlook them, move on to the next post.
If the post is blatant spam, or by a brand new poster clearly unaware of the way the forum works, or if the person is deliberately disrupting the forum or making grossly offensive remarks, that is a different story. A post may be reported or remarked on if it clearly falls in those categories.
If someone is habitually disrupting threads with frequent off-topic posts without consideration for others, or frequently reposting information that has already been posted by others, the mods will intervene at our discretion as we see fit.
If you yourself have been made aware, whether by another member or by your own realization, that your own post should be placed in a different thread or is a dupe, then by all means you may PM a mod to move it or delete it.

Thanks for your cooperation.
