Q&A Sigs or no sigs?

should this place end up taking off, i'm not planning on making substantial changes to the whole jpm vibe but i'm curious as to what ppl think? should there be sigs or not?

that assumes a bloke can figure how to activate them.
the admin panel is absurdly complicated. truly epic.

I agree boinsie but I'm leaning towards allowing them.
because, as luck would have it,
you can DISABLE viewing sigs and/or avvies
so those of us annoyed by them
never have to suffer.

I don't think it's just you. I was only able to get in once, and when I tried to sign in, it was down again.

As for sigs, I'm in favor of having them, especially if you can turn them off if you're sick of looking at them!

Yeah, I guess they're okay... it's just that some people can be so annoying about them, y'know? I like how at JPM you're limited to changing your avvie and location. It forces you to be more creative.
I was at JPM around 12:30, but yeah... it's been being a bitch. And I definately can't get in right now.

I'm inclined to say 'no' as I tend to dislike signatures (or more the liberties people take with them). However, having found the option to disable them just now (and very easily) then go for it. I believe you need to place limits on what people can do with them, but as long as we can disable them, then that's cool.

i went ahead and enabled sigs
up to 640x320 px.
i don't anticipate any future problem but we'll see.

jpopmusic used to have signatures when it first open but later on it became a problem.

1. some dial up users had a hard time loading threads.
2. people would post offensive pictures
3. people would post a small signature then later on swap it with a different picture but with the same url

tbh, the lack of signatures is what makes JPM quite unique. :O

Hopefully no one uses them when people start coming here. :O

Sigs can be totally disabled from your UCP, for those people who don't like them.
Also, you can set annoying people as "foes" and ignore their posts.

This is why phpbb3 kicks the ass of phpbb2.
