Mini hardware review, because I don't own any 3DS games yet

Circle pad: this thing is awesome, much better than the PSP 'nub' thing.
D-pad: kind of clicky and it takes some time to get used to it being so low, but still pretty good. Would have liked better a less clicky, Wii remote-like d-pad.
Select/Home/Start buttons: awkward placement and feel, but functional I guess.
L/R: again, too clicky. But work well enough.
3D: I found that I enjoyed much better with the slider set at the middle, really nice, I'm looking forward to it in future games. Still, I'll play most of the time with the 3D off because of the battery.
Original DS games: when you play in 'full screen' mode it does look blurry, I personally prefer playing with the original resolution which sadly means you get a noticeably smaller screen with black borders around it (think playing GBA games in your DS), but the image remains sharp. The circle pad works great for DS games, but I still prefer the d-pad.

The built-in software is nice, especially the AR cards and the 3D camera, but I won't be using it a lot after I get some games, really. Overall feels like a really nice handheld. Even if I'm stuck playing DS games on it for the time being :fear:

E3 will sell you on a 3DS, boins! I've played a ton of mine, but right now it has been set down while I play FFIV PSP and Portal 2. Dead or Alive Dimensions is only a couple weeks away, though...

Today Dead or Alive comes out! Finally!

Except it doesn't in Mexico.

RAGE, I hope it doesn't get banned like in Sweden because of some child porn law :fear: I love how it's perfectly okay to sell games where you can violently dismember people, but not a fighting game with 17 years old girls in it.

Dead or Alive is officially mine. Only played a bit of arcade, so far, but it seems pretty solid. Tons of modes. Tons of unlocks. Tons of characters. Online is incorporated very seamlessly. Doesn't ask if you want to connect to wifi like I've been used to with anything I've played on a Nintendo system in the past.

Visuals could use a bit of AA. Beautiful, but they aren't perfect. The story bits in Chronicle are strange. Lots of spoken dialogue, but most of it is over prerendered character stills that are shifted around the screen. The actual CGI bits that are included don't seem to have been encoded very well. I didn't get DoA for the story, though.

... Lei Fang has her hair down. :(

Still nowhere to be found around here

Is it balanced? Because I read you can unlock some cheap bosses and play them online. Is Hitomi good? Because I think I'll main her

The difference between us is that you play fighters competitively. I play them for fun, and only fun. Very, very casual fun. Combo systems? lol Don't even talk to me about it.

That said, I am not one to speak on the balance of the game.

I just hope the bosses aren't really cheap, otherwise 70% of the online matches will be against them. I use the word "them" because I'm assuming there's more than one, I could be wrong XD

I'm really liking DoA, it's been fun and the graphics are nice. I'm still unlocking stuff and I have to go through story mode.

Thanks for the alt hairstyle tip. So much better. Now she looks a little less like that DoA4 doppleganger.

Tag mode is ridiculous. Still haven't put much time into Chronicle yet. Love the daily spotpass DLC. :l:
