I.O.I Thread (Produce 101 unit) [2016.08 Sub-unit single]

I.O.I is a K-pop unit, formed on April 1st, 2016 during the live finale of Produce 101 (Official Thread). The members are (in order of ranking) Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yoojung, Kim Chungha, Kim Sohye, Jie Qiongzhou (formerly known as "Pinky"), Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Doyeon, Kang Mina, Im Nayoung, & Yoo Yeonjung. The members released their first digital single, "Crush," was released on April 5th, 2016.

I'm not super crazy about the song, but it's nothing that I can't listen to now and again. That music video is a big ol' anticlimactic downer though. I know you spent absurd amounts of money on the show itself Mnet, but come on. At least give them a decently sized corner to kind-of dance in.

I'm hoping they'll get an actual MV for their debut cause iirc this is just a fan teaser sorta MV, right? If so, then I don't mind that they didn't spend too much time/effort on this one, cause poor Yoojung was sick =( Also, if there is an actual ver. coming, kinda hoping they bring back the song's dance break. I need more Yoojung and Chungha dance madness xD But if not that's fine I like the song even without it.

For me, I wasn't crazy about the song at first but hearing it more it really grew on me. Has lots of catchy repetitiveness. "It's okay it's okay," "nanana nana nah nah," "rush rush rush," etc. xD

It was originally planned to release during the finale, but the cancelled it weeks before in favor of a mini-album. Since it had a positive response in Korea, they ended up a few days later with the final line-up. It seems really rushed (and cheap), but they had to release it as soon as possible or the hype would have disappeared. It actually charted really good, it even reached the top 10 in the melon charts.

The MV is cheap as fuck, but it was fun. Sucks that Yoojung was sick at that time. They also changed the arrangements, including the duck sounds. I like the song tho.

I think it was already mentioned that "Crush" wasn't going to be the lead track in the mini-album so idk if we will get a better MV for it. I just hope the lead track wow us and makes up for the cheap MV.

I didn't realize "Crush" wasn't going to be the main song for the album (and this shows that I have read absolutely nothing since finishing the show). That's good news for me. There's a way better chance for a nicer video to be connected to a song I enjoy more.

I've been showing my mom PD101 evaluation performances from the show, leading up to the final group. We've only just made it through the original songs today and will finish up the rest tomorrow. So far the girls she's been most consistently pointing out, without realizing it's the same people between videos, are Somi and Chungha, and she likes Jeon Soyeon enough that she has remembered her voice and points her out to me before I have a chance to do it for her.

I've been lurking Onehallyu and I have a hard time figuring out what's NEWS and what's UNCONFIRMED/RUMOR, not to mention the fact that there's a post every second and its hard to keep up, so I've just started not believing/getting hopes up when there's "news" until I see actual results, so I also did not know Crush wasn't going to be the main song, or that there was any mention of something like that whatsoever.

That's cool that your mom can point out, without watching the show/screentime bias, girls who made it in top 22. Means they really do have the talent to go up there.

That's true. Urgh, there was the "news" that public channels didn't wanted I.O.I to be on their channel, but MNet (or was it YMC?) that debunked that rumor, saying that that they just don't have anything scheduled yet.

Right now, supposedly, they are offered 30 songs and they will chose the ones they voted in favor for the album. I hope that's true because it sounds pretty neat.

^^And it's cool that your mom recognizes Somi and Chungha. She'll probably be disappointed when she finds out J. Soyeon doesn't make it.
