Hooray!

What a great way for them to get themselves heard by a new audience. Amazon is pushing their free X'mas music giveaway pretty hard, so that is a lot of exposure for the girls!

Knife News!

- March 14th marked the 30th anniversary of Shonen Knife's first concert! Their first concert was on March 14th, 1982 in Osaka, Japan. According to Naoko the set included "Miracles", "Banana Leaf", "Parallel Woman", 3 more original songs and 2 cover songs of Buzzcocks and Mo-dettes.

- Shonen Knife will appear in Soul Flower Train, a movie directed by Nishio Hiroshi. It will be coming out later this year. No real details yet but it sounds like it'll be just a small part.

- In SK-related news, US label manager and merch girl DJ Sashimi (Miyoko) and her husband had a baby girl on January 20th of this year. I suppose that might explain why she wasn't on tour with them last Fall/Winter.

I'll, of course, be going to the Portland, OR show on 8-9. Would love to hit the Seattle show the day before as well but more than likely won't. I think I'm going to try to get there early this time and see if I can snag a drumhead, drumsticks, or whatever piece of an instrument they might be selling in extremely limited quantity this time.

If they're playing somewhere nearby do yourself a favor and go check them out. They're not big enough to play anything other than small venues and that means you can get as close as you like and it's usually only like $15 for a ticket. The girls put on such a good show, they're super nice, and they always hit the merch table after so you can take pictures, get shit signed, and tell them how awesome they are.

Oooh, the S.F. show is only four days after Mythcon in Berkeley, so maybe my friends will still be visiting from out of state and I can drag them along! (I'll be there, whether they come along or not.)

Goooooooo! If you need someone you barely know to go with to help convince you to go let me know and I'll consider driving up there a little more seriously. It's not so much the drive up as it is the 3 hour drive back and show the next day. |-)

Haha, it'll mostly depend on when we actually end up moving. Kai's school doesn't start until the end of September, so we're unsure by when exactly we're wanting to be up there...
But I'll keep you on notice. xD

I'm kinda late posting this, but... the first 100 people to order the Pop Tune CD at GoodCharamel.com will also receive a free bonus live CD EP! :w00t:

Additional news: the album was scheduled for U.S. release yesterday, but shipping has been delayed because of an error at the printing plant.

Man, couldn't they make their only Canadian show, like, Montreal? The scene here is so much better :/
