Maybe it's just me but I'm pretty sure I have never in my life had the opportunity to use the word "squall" in a meteorological discussion. e.g
Imaginary friend: "Wanna hang out tonight, Zuun?" Zunu: Nop. Heard there was gonna be a squall so I'll just sit this bad boy out. Imaginary friend: "Cam on, Zu, don't be a wimp, you're not afraid of a bit of churned-up spume, are you? It's not like a supercell is on the way!!!" Zunu: Haha true, if you put it that way...! I'm glad you're my friend, Imaginary friend! Imaginary friend: ... Can I borrow $50?

Like, I get that you're being funny, but... It's not only a meteorological term--it also means to cry out.
Your intended point that it's an uncommon word still holds true, but H!P has never let awkward English hold them back!

^As my mama says, what's that got to do with the price of butter? I mean (far as I can tell from internetting around) the song starts off like this:
Totsuzen no inabikari doshaburi na kibun ga oshiyose mou hadome kikanai soramoyou
My crude translation: Unexpected flash of lighting. The sensation of a downpour closing in. The weather inexorably draws nigh.
So I think they mean squall in terms of weather, not a baby's cry.
