Peanut Butter Jelly Love (radio preview)

Don't know why I was expecting something different from their usual Grease-era music but even so it sounds quite nice.

on twitter, Eric Fukusaki is pretty excited about his first song for Country Girls "Peanut Butter Jelly Love"

I was expecting the rockabilly, upbeat swingy sound, but I think I prefer it as this slower cute ballad style.

I was totally expecting something totally different. I like it, but I'm not sold on it yet. I'm probably going to have to listen to it a few times.

I keep replaying that clip. Nanami's soaring YO in the line "koishiteru to...torokechau YO" really sells the melody for me. Also, I get the feeling that Momochi insisted on attempting those opening high notes solo to prove that she won't lose to Airi.

It reminds me of a lot of the old-timey Christmas ballads.
In general though, I love how unique a song it is for idols around now, and it really highlights Momoko's vocal ability. Country Girls have really carved themselves out a musical theme. And since the retro sound is really pretty diverse I hope we get to hear more stuff like this, or from other eras as well.

I was also expecting something different until someone linked an Eric Fukusaki single and now I'm not surprised at all. I still like it though! There are some peanut butter jelly puns in there I think lol I may just like Good Boy Bad Girl more, but it's too early to tell.
Overall it's different enough where my first thoughts aren't "ugh more rockabilly" but still along the same trend since nanami and funakki were added.
...which is kind of a shame, I know they want to distance themselves from the loss that was Uta, but I loved that music style and really miss it. I hope they go back to it as some point.
