What are the longest week sales on record with H!P? (or at least, this long?)

I think that I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure LOVE Machine is the longest charting H!P single. I'm not sure how many weeks it did though, but it was a lot.

Yeah I remember reading the LOVE Machine went pretty long, so I'm pretty sure if you'd compare this to that, it's nothing. But yes, even though I don't usually keep in mind how long singles have charted, I haven't seen (or recollect in particular) any singles that charted that long since I've been a fan. I vaguely remember there are ones that chart on the 5th maybe 6th but 8th is pretty high and idr any going that far.

I'm not in the habit of keeping track, but editing things has it's perks. Just plucking out kind-of recent releases (I did not check all of them), only one of those I looked at reached 8 weeks, but a decent amount were close or made sudden returns to the chart after time off.

Spoiler: show
"Nanchatte Renai" charted for 7 weeks (no breaks).
"Egao no Kimi wa..." charted for 7 weeks (no breaks).
"Toki wo Koe.." charted for 7 weeks (no breaks).
"Tiki Bun.." charted for 6 weeks (came back for it's 6th after being out of the chart for five weeks).

"Otakebi Boy.." charted for 7 weeks (no breaks).
"Motto Zutto Issho.." charted for 7 weeks (no breaks).

"Ijiwaru Shinaide.." charted for 8 weeks (came back for it's 7th & 8th after being out for two weeks).
"Romance no Tochuu.." charted for 6 weeks (no breaks).
"Hadaka no.." charted for 7 weeks (came back for it's 6th and 7th after being out for one week).

"Ee ka!? .." charted for 6 weeks (came back for it's 5th and 6th after being out for one week).

They are pushing so hard with this promotion. (@_@) The announcement for their next single should be coming soon, and we're still getting stuff for this one.

As they should, it's a new group, now it's the time to get Japan acquainted with them. And as long as the media is willing to give them some airtime or articles it should be used.

As for the long chart positions, back in the golden days of MM the singles chart was just a top 100 instead of the top 200 it is now. There for to make a real comparison you really have to double or even triple the number of weeks a Love Machine had in the chart, or just look at the time spend in the top 100 for the current singles. It shows the difference between idol popularity and mainstream popularity, but mostly the changed music market. The mainstream public doesn't buy CD singles any more.

The last single that really made a longer appearance, without having to use late handshake events (the only reason why this one had such a long stay) was Koharu/Kirari's Balalaika with 23 weeks in 2006.
