I bet that even among foreign fans, there are more males than females. It's just that most of the males lurk, because there's a stigma in being a fan of this stuff. I became accustomed to it in the J-pop fan community, but I'm seeing it all over again in the metal fan community, thanks to BABYMETAL. There are only so many times that you can be called a "Jap-lover" or a sissy or a pedophile or a creep before you give up and go back into the shadows.

While that's definitely true, users can still easily answer a poll while remaining lurkers.
For example, who is the female 41-50? I have no idea. They haven't posted about it in this thread, and that's totally fine.

Lurkers who haven't even created accounts, then. For example, there are six "guests" as I post this.

FYI, guests can't vote in polls. You have to have a membership, although you can vote with zero posts.

28 woman
Being a girl doesn't necessarily make liking jpop more acceptable. My mom asked if I was gay at 15 because I watched Hello project mv so much. I'm not and I was confused why she would think that. It's just seen as weird to people who don't get it.

27 year old woman here! People always think I look way younger than I am (like 19-20ish) lol It bugs me sometimes.

^^Does not matter how old you are and who you are, you are seen as weird for listening to jpop.
But, that's life, isn't it? c:

Realized I never posted in here, though I voted.
Just turned 28, female.

I'm still really excited that older female fans seem to be the norm among western fans.
Is it because we used to like Spice Girls when we were younger
