Idk, to me I think it was an imitation of a New Year's traditional object (not sure though) so it could just be a one-off.

nah they're not, 12th gen during the Mikaeri Bijin performance wore the same outfits they were announced (as new members) in.

^^^^ Zukki's monomane was along the theme of new year, a kagami mochi. It's basically a stacked mochi with an orange on top.
