Not really sure on where to post this, but
Nonaka Miki New Year's message on Up Front Link's Facebook page! She announces that she'll be making intermittent English posts on their page in the coming year.

Possibly the most energy I've seen her have before, which is good, but I wonder if her vocal cadence is really like that if she were speaking directly to a native speaker?

For those who don't do Facebook (like me; I have the whole thing blocked in order to prevent tracking)…

I think it's a combination of giving a prepared statement — which can be awkward for anyone, even a professional entertainer — and over-enunciating in order to make herself more understandable to non-native speakers. (That's the weird thing about English being a lingua franca: we native speakers take it for granted and think it should sound a certain way, even when we're not necessarily the target audience.) I've seen other times, mostly in the DVD magazines, when she's spoken extemporaneously and sounds just like a normal American girl.

Yeah, it's definitely a thing because of the prepared statements. :p

Do you think Nonaka herself will comment on UFLink like Ayaka does/did? :O
