I'll say it's a Christmas Miracle. Oricon must have left out some figures somewhere, or there were a lot of end-of-week-only counts.
The first two days were supposed to total 18,778 (according to Oricon staff), so even if they made what 3rd place got each day, the total weekly would only be 31,832 (not including end of week figures, which would normally be ~2k) - and they were ranked pretty well below 3rd the rest of the week.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them and all, but I just don't understand HOW the numbers and ranks are supposed to logically add up to 33,320 copies.

I'm fairly sure that has to do with copies sold at events, or something like that?

Ahhh congrats to s/mileage! I've been holding my breath all week I really wanted this single to do well.I kinda hope the girls got to be surprised by the ranking as well cause I bet it feels great.

I was hoping they'd break their best selling single (I think it was Miniskirt Postwoman w/ 36k) before the end of the year but 2nd best at 35k is still amazing!
Really happy for S/mileage though Tsunku does have a point about the whole troublemaker, problem-child, low motivation S/mileage group. Out of all the H!P groups their trademark is suppose to be high energy, young, fun, and cute so they have to try and sell that.
The whole "1 A side serious s/mileage, other A side fun s/mileage" thing is really working for them, since its cool how they can pull off contrasting type songs.
It's a new year, they're probably noticing their progress by now, they just got that comment from Tsunku, and hopefully from here on out they give it all they've got!
I really think they have potential, they just have to use it.

They just need to manage to sell 441 more copies until they outsell Miniskirts.
Now I just hope they still manage to chart enough to reach that goal.
