2016 was much better than 2015. Nobody in my family died, for starters. We also moved and that was worth it (even though it's way too fucking hot at the moment, lol).

Highlights, in rough order:
-Yuri!!! on ICE, holy shit I haven't loved an anime this much in a while.
-Kaede joining MM。, fuck the haters.
-Uno: The Movie, please watch it, it'll be the best 2:44:00 you'll ever spend on a video game movie.
-Konkon replying to me on Twitter because sometimes it's the little things.
-H!P was pretty solid this year.
-Getting into the giant mess that is the Shingeki no Kyojin manga, I'm not sure what ride I'm even on anymore but I'm enjoying it... I think.
-Visiting Adelaide and the Adelaide Zoo and seeing the giant pandas (my dad and I went on a road trip there, it was pretty neat).
-Probably other things I'm forgetting, I had a good year overall.

Things I'm looking forward to in 2017:
-Kaede in MM。and MM。'17 in general. H!P in general, really.
-A hell of a lot of anime.
-Maybe perhaps potentially going to Japan if it all works out.

I'm getting ready to head over to 924 Gilman in Berkeley to see Kamala and the Karnivores, playing together for the first time since "their last show ever" (which I also saw), where they opened for Sweet Children at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Davis on 7 April 1989.

Incidentally, the next time I saw Sweet Children (bottom of the bill at Operation Ivy's final show, 924 Gilman, 28 May 1989), they had changed their name — to Green Day. Maybe you've heard of them.

EDIT: It was a fun show. It was great catching up with the Karnivores and other old friends who came up for the show, some of whom I hadn't seen in 25 years or more. As the singer for one of the other bands that played tonight said, "This is like a high school reunion for people who don't go to high school reunions." XD

Starra: Random NZ mention - apparently, Lena Cha (Astro Bunny, ex-Cherry Boom) is in NZ at the moment, and she's been doing vlog posts about it on the Astro Bunny YT channel:

Are you chronically dehydrated? For those who are, it gets particularly bad during the coldest, driest months of winter. Here are some symptoms I've discovered through personal experience:

- Dry, chafed, or cracked skin on forehead, forearms, ears, nail cuticles, inner thighs, elbows, heels;
- Stiffness, weakness, or excessive popping in joints, especially the knees if you sit for long periods;
- Excessive mucus or post-nasal drip; and
- Less resilience to eye strain, which can lead to blurriness and increased "floaters".

I am not a doctor, of course. These are simply things I've observed in myself. When I do a better job of staying hydrated, all of these symptoms have improved or disappeared completely. YMMV.

EDIT: Added ears and nail cuticles.

I find in the winter I generally just drink less water. In the summer when I'm sweating more and outside doing more, I find I'm always drinking but in the winter it's more warm drinks and you just don't drink them as quickly as a cold drink so I just tend to nurse a drink. So I find myself in the same boat as you Celedam.

The big high-pressure blob that's been sitting over the Pacific near the western U.S. (and keeping Southern California hot and dry) for the past five years is gone (at least for the moment), so now the L. A. area is back to its more-or-less normal Winter weather -- a few days of overcast and rain (or drizzle), followed by a day or two of sunshine, with high temperatures in the 50s to 60s F.
I was looking out out the sliding-glass door and thinking about how cold and gloomy the weather currently is when a grapefruit bounced off of my portable BBQ and rolled across the patio. The grapefruit tree is full of fruit, and so is the neighbor's orange tree. The banana plant on the next block is about twice the height of the house next to it, and everybody's palm trees are doing just fine. A few deciduous were being strict traditionalists and had actually dropped their leaves, but otherwise, it's still Southern California, and we're actually getting actual water from the sky, so I won't complain. XD
I am addicted to high levels of light, though. I really think I'd prefer a world where the days consisted of 20 hours of bright daylight, with four hours of night. (Which would probably require a two-sun system - and very complicated orbital mechanics. :mikihead: )

Happy birthday, resop!

We had a whole day of average weather. Then it went back to way above average.
One town (Bartow) was almost 90F today. It's January 2nd. Let that sink in. XD

Happy (belated maybe?) birthday, resop!

@TU: Cheers! I'll watch those when I remember . She seems to be in the North Island going from the name of the second video, which is kinda different to the South Island (South is much, much more rural save for like, Christchurch lol). Seems interesting anyway!

@Celedam: I always drink a lot. I have at least 750mL of water a day (and usually a can of Coke too, but I swear I'm going to be better about that this year!) and I always have a water bottle with me. Though in my case I know I get dehydrated because of my heart stuff... Sometimes I wake up in the night and can't go back to sleep until I've had something to drink. When it's hot enough I have over 2 bottles of water a day sometimes.

I'm transferring some older documentation to a new format; at the moment, I'm working on descriptions of machining operations, and I just came to the one named "Screw Machine".
And just like always, the moment I saw that name, you know which classic MoMusu song popped into my head.
I'm soooo tempted to write some appropriately inappropriate lyrics. :mikihead:
But not for the current Morning Musume - that would be a little too inappropriate. Somehow, MM '99 seems like much more of an adult group than any of the recent incarnations.

Edit: And the next maching operation on the list was EDM, so naturally, "Next" by Stereo Tokyo (or is it Sexy Tokyo now? ) is running through my head now.
"EDM" in this case stands for "Electrical Discharge Machining", which sounds like some kind of industrial dance music.

So a few days ago I thought the forum was down because http://forum.jpopmusic.info doesn't work anymore, but then I realized jplop.com is fine.

http://forum.jpopmusic.info is working for me--maybe it's just intermittent? Or Zoon has already seen & addressed your concerns? XD I personally always use http://www.morningmusu.me so I hadn't noticed.
(Speaking of which, did anyone happen to screencap the morningmusu.me April Fools gag described on the first pages of this thread? Somehow none of the Jplop management did and it's a travesty. )

forum.jpopmusic.info still works from here... I didn't do anything to break or fix it. I do consider it deprecated and will eventually get rid of it, probably this year sometime, so I would suggest that anyone still using it switch to jplop.com (or morningmusu.me if they insist)
