I've had it today for the first time in years. Happened to be studying in a different neighborhood for a change of space, and there was a Trader Joe's a few blocks away. I wish there was a store closer to me.

I'm able to eat a higher level of spiciness these days though.

Speaking of good things to eat, that reminds me - I have a jar of these in the fridge, and I should finish them soon...

Those are so good that I've gotten hooked on them! XD

When I was a kid, I lived in walnut- and pear-orchard territory, and I got used to seeing whole walnuts lying on the ground with the tough rind (the pericarp) still on them - as they dry out, it looks black and throroughly unappetizing, like it's probably full of tannin. And the walnut preserves look just like what I used to see on the ground, only soaked in syrup. But of course, they're delicious, and I think that part of the reason why I like them so much is because they're so completely different from what I would have come to expect, based on my childhood experience.

There's a walnut tree in my dad's back yard, and there was a walnut orchard next door when we first moved into that house back in 1980. But I've never liked walnuts myself.

I have half a jar of Ararat brand Imambayeldi in my fridge. I'm not certain that it's still edible. You can see from the label that it's "Made and packled by 'Artashes' Ltd." I'm guessing that "packling" involves both pickling and packing. XD

I tend to leave things like that in the back of my fridge until they turn into stinky tofu. XD

Wow, the flood of spam you receive after registering a domain is almost as bad as the flood of junk mail you receive after signing a mortgage.

And almost all of the spam is coming from India. They don't even bother to hide behind American-sounding front companies.

It's been getting into the negative temperatures at night here . Good thing I have a heater, a nice comforter and a cat keeping me warm.

More random tech problems: I have a digitizer box that I have been using to convert VHS tapes to MP4's. Today when I fired it up I got a funny squiggly pattern on the monitor screen on the software. The video from the VCR is fine on the TV but seems to degrade when sent through the box to the computer. I am wondering if the cable from the box to the computer is bad (firewire six pin to six pin) or if the box has finally bit the dust. Is it possible to still get firewire cable?

^ Sounds kinda gross, to be honest. I don't like hard liquor to begin with.

I've always associated hard liquor with the seriously self-destructive level of alcohol addiction, because for me, that's exactly how it worked.

You don't mix two hard liquors like that! Especially if they have a high alcohol content. I always check the alcohol content before consumption. I always eat before I drink and I always drink water between drinks. And above all else I always make it last! It's alcohol not fruit juice. It spends all that time fermenting at least do it the courtesy
of enjoying it and not drinking it like it's going out of style.

I enjoy drinking whiskey, but flavored ones or on ice to dilute it a little. It's a sipper for sure. I never really cared for vodka. It's got no flavor to it unless you enjoy fruity liquid fire. I admit I enjoy drinking but I only do it on the weekends, holidays or on vacation which is rare for me. It makes me super sleepy if I drink too much or super full if I don't eat before so it's a treat for me.

I wish I could treat sweets like I treated alcohol, dieting would be sooo much easier. But I'm addicted to sugar. XD I'd rather eat a bar of chocolate before anything else.

I don't drink alcohol at all. My body's already fucked up enough as it is, I don't want to ruin it any more .

Plus, I'm not supposed to have alcohol with some of the medications I'm on, so...

Ugh, new month = bills to pay

It's easier to manage my money when I get paid monthly. The stipend I'm getting is pretty generous (well, it's lower during the summer), but getting it every 3-4 months makes it difficult to manage. I've been concerned about not being able to pay my rent during the last month several times this past 1-2 years.

I haven't bought vodka in years, but when I do, it's just to use it as a mixer, especially for Bloody Marys.

I think the only time that I even tried to make a mixed drink (other than Bacardi 151 and Coke) was when I tossed together a fake tequila sunrise out of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill (or was it Tickle Pink  ) sort-of-wine, orange juice, and Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup. But I realized even as I was drinking it that OTC cough syrup and alcohol was a slippery slope with a steep downhill gradient. XD

I've been getting three paychecks a month, and I still manage to let a couple of bills slip past the deadline if I'm not extremely careful. :fear:
