Seriously though, isn't it weird how autocorrect has perversely increased typographical errors. I have a hypothesis about that. Normally when you mistype on a regular keyboard, there's a part of your brain that "knows" you've hit the wrong keystrokes, so it alerts you to visually inspect what you've just entered. But when you actually type the keystrokes you've intended, and your phone "corrects" them to something unintended, then that part of your brain which is monitoring your finger movements is never alerted, and thinks all is okay. So the autocorrect mistake slips past your consciousness, and onto the screen.

Anyway, because they arise from a whole other phenomenon than normal typos, I don't even think they should call them typos. Correctoes? Tiptoes?
When I google stuff on my phone I also know that Google will figure out whatever garbage I just typed out even if I’d see that there’s a typo. It’s the same for autocorrect, actually. I’d see that I had made a mistake but I know it’s going to get corrected (and most of the time I made sure it got corrected properly). This is true even when I’m super drunk, and if I allow something weird to be sent it’s more for the lolz. The spelling tends to still be perfect lol.

That's another reason why it's a good thing that I quit drinking well before the era of Internet-based social media - otherwise, my online permanent record would be even more catastrophically embarrassing than it already is. XD

And weather like this in April isn't even that unusual for Michigan. Our worst snowstorm on record was April 6, 1886, and our worst ice storm on record was April 9, 1979. (I clearly remember the latter, despite my age at the time.)

Today is April 9, 2018, and…

<looks out window>

…it's snowing. Hard.

It snowed last week as well, but not as hard as this. (At least not here. Northern Michigan got buried.) If this keeps up for more than an hour, it might accumulate.

The funny thing is Thursday and Friday are forecast to be in the 60s (around 20° Celsius) with high winds. That's more typical of spring for us — as the jet stream shifts and starts bringing warm air up from the Gulf, we get a lot of wind and thunderstorms.

It's 92F outside right now, with a "feels like" temp of 98F. Do I win? :fear:

It snowed today, but after being in Chicago for almost three years I've come to realize it's always a milder version of whatever Celedam is getting (and what people I knew back in Minnesota are getting). So I can't get too annoyed at the weather. :fear:

It's going to be 60-70F in a few days though.

I guess Southern California gets 2nd prize today - we had 94F. But we will be getting down to a bone-chilling 70F by Wednesday. XD

That does look nice - and there are some very art deco touches on that building!

Guess who I ran into just now.

I couldn’t spend much time with them because it was starting to rain. They were on the side street around the corner from where I live visiting with two girls. I wanted to get the girls pictured with the ducks but it started raining and the girls took off. I asked the ducks if they were going to come to my house for pictures this year. They didn’t say anything but the female seemed interested for the first time. :giggle: XD

Look at this ridiculousness…

I'm a Michigan boy, born and raised, so I'm accustomed to it. But for it to dip below freezing in mid-April is a bit much even for Michigan. This winter started last Halloween…

viewtopic.php?p=227980#p227980

…so it's been almost six months.

Anyhow, for this brief, beautiful moment, it's 73° and sunny and my windows are wide open for the first time this year.

Probably why I like the look of it so much! I love art deco buildings (and art deco cars).
If you scroll far enough, you'll see the 1935 Stout Scarab. I saw that at an exhibit in Nashville, and it's super awesome. I loved everything there.

I did mini golf today. I was terrible, but still won. They also had gators!

Duck Chronicles 2018.
Just got back from the little walk I do. I came home on the street where I saw the ducks yesterday. I normally don’t walk this street and almost missed them. It looks like they definitely found greener pastures than on my street.

Spooky House Update.

It's good that they got the roof done - that should help to prevent (more) water damage. I wonder, though, if they've had trouble getting financing for the rest of the renovation. (The spooky-house onwers, I mean. It looks like the ducks have access to enough overgrown lawn to keep their bug-and-worm books balanced. XD )

I just got home from seeing a live show by Sumo Princess, featuring the incredible Abby Travis, and Elettrodomestico, featuring the pixie princess of punk, the eternally adorable Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's. I was in the front row and it was loads of fun. It was great hearing "Our Lips Are Sealed" ("a little ditty that I wrote two hundred years ago") with Jane on lead vocals for the entire song. I already have my ticket to see the Go-Go's at the Fox Theater in Oakland on June 28th.

I bought Abby's first two CDs directly from her and got them signed, and I bought the Elettrodomestico LP directly from Jane and got it signed, as well. It turns out that Jane lives in the Bay Area nowadays; she said that the venue is only a 15-minute drive from her house. (It's even more convenient for me: I live in the next block.)
