^ So much Sailor Moon. I don't think I have ever seen a single episode of that anime. Just like little clips here and there.

Speaking of Moons, what do y'all think of the new Rebel Moon trailer? It cetainly is stuffed with visual elements, but it makes me think "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." At least, nothing I can make heads or tails of. Something something princess, something destiny. I can do without destiny; it's really just another word for plot armor.

I believe this is supposed to eventually be a fleshed out rival to the Star Wars universe, but I'm getting more of a discount Luc Besson universe vibe. I do love me some Sofia Boutella though, so almost certainly I'll watch it regardless.

^ Well, it's certainly not lacking action.

I just finished watching Spy x Family. Like an article I read on it (after watching) said, it's a bit of a mix of genres. I would have liked a more realistic style series but I was able to enjoy it for what it is. Anya is so cute, with those limpets permanently fixed to her head, and her issues speaking properly

It looks like I'll only have to wait a few months until season 2 is released :D

You just reminded me that I never got around to finishing SPY X FAMILY. Gracias, that'll give me something to watch!

Anya's cute. Her facial expressions are the best. The way Bond barks cracks me up too. Yor's my favorite, though.
(It's gotta be some kinda conspiracy that I've not seen much Yor merch irl. :^) )

I've seen S and SuperS before but it's been a very long time, lol.

There's kind of a meta layer to Anya's character in that she identifies herself as an anime fan: " アーニャはアニメ派。" When she goes to the shopping mall to buy clothes with her friend at first all she is interested in finding is "anime goods"

Yor is sweet.

Not finishing SxF is notto eleganto!!

(I just learned from image search that in the manga yuuga is used, not the English "elegant" -
優雅 ゆうが elegance; grace; refinement ).

Hmmm racing anime eh?

Yas! A "she" !

Postby Zunu » Thu Aug 24, 2023 10:08 am

In that word yuuga, the kanji 優 is also the first part of 優樹 (Satou Masaki-chan's given name) and the 雅 is, all by itself, Miyabi. :starra:

思い浮かぶよね。
Could it be an elegant pairing on the M-Line circuit?

I find those kanjis difficult to write: they don't look elegant when I write them

That emoji is named after a certain Kiwi poster(?) - but it's also Nacchan

Funny you should make that remark. I was just talking to a friend a couple of hours ago about a paradox sometimes called "Grelling's Paradox." Basically it goes like this. There are two types of adjectives/adjectival phrases: autological adjectives, and heterological adjectives.

An autological adjective is an adjective that describes itself. An example would be "polysyllabic." The word "polysyllabic" is itself a polysyllabic word. Another example would be the word "English," which is, itself, an English word. Some might say that "staccato" and "mellifluous" are autological.

A heterological adjective is, you guessed it, an adjective that does not describe itself. "Monosyllabic" is not itself a monosyllabic word, thus it's heterological. "Long" is not a long word. "Japanese" is not a "Japanese" word

So, the paradox, which is similar to the so-called barber paradox, is simply this: "Is the adjective "heterological" heterological"?

Anyway, your comment reminded me of this because you're basically saying that you write "yuugana" heterologically.

---
So...back on topic. Anybody here watch "Foundation" on Apple TV? The first season was a little cringey in spots so I didn't have high hopes for the second. But it's been leaps and bounds better. In particular, this week's episode was so good.
