I just learned that the director of "House on Haunted Hill " teamed up with Hanna-Barbera in 1966 for a record, where he acted as Narrator of "The Tell-Tale Heart". His performance is different from what I'm used to with this story. I know nothing about him outside of a few movies he directed, so this was unexpected. Neat though.

I can't really call it "mindless fluff" anymore. The first season/story arc gets much darker towards the end. :fear:

Having caught up with Season 2, I don't know if I'm digging it as much anymore…

Spoiler: show
The writing got downright silly in the first few episodes of the season — specifically, how Liv fully became various stereotypes (mean old man, obnoxious frat boy, spoiled socialite) when she ate the victims' brains, rather than merely take on some of the victims' knowledge and personality traits like she did in Season 1. And then how she spent most of the rest of each episode playing up the stereotypes rather than actually solving the murders… Ugh.

In particular, in the socialite episode, the attacker conveeeeeniently survived the same fall that killed the socialite, just so that Liv couldn't eat his brain and immediately learn who had hired him. Nope, she had to eat the socialite's brain instead, just so that they could do an episode with her strutting around in skin-tight haute couture. Sure, she's my type and she looked fantastic, but c'mon.

Even worse, the writers obviously knew how silly their writing got — they showed it in Clive's increasingly incredulous reactions to Liv's increasingly erratic behavior — and that sort of self-consciousness made the whole thing seem even sillier.

I know, I know, this is supposed to be the "com" in "rom com zom dram", but c'mon.

Anyhow, it looks like things might get better by mid-season. I certainly hope so.

The things you learn while surfing YouTube…

…like the fact that a 12-year-old Keira Knightley played one of Queen Amidala's handmaidens/decoys in The Phantom Menace.

Huh.

Huh.

I don't recall what line of recommendations led me there, but I wound up watching that same Graham Norton clip (and a load of others) a few weeks ago.

Oh, by the way, if you hadn't heard already…

It really is The Avengers 2.5; everyone is there except Hulk, Thor, and Vision.

I wish my dad would hurry up and watch S3-4 so we can get into 5 together. I've been resisting the urge to watch for what feels like forever now.

Oh, well… I should have mentioned that teaser contains lots of spoilers for previous seasons.

No worries there. I'm avoiding all teasers, trailers, and direct conversations (just like I did for S5). Besides that, a couple of weeks ago something was accidentally spoiled for me by a little blurb in the bottom corner of a TV Guide magazine.

I'll forget about any of it by the time my dad catches up anyway.
