That was really enjoyable. They always seem to have some interesting MVs.

I was super shocked to here about that. I'm a huge SHINEE fan (I love there funky Bruno Mars esque groove) and got into them around Ring Ding Dong waayyy back in the day. He was so successful, too, it makes you wonder what was going through his mind. I guess we'll never really know what drove him to suicide, but I'm pretty upset about this.

My friend texted me about it this morning and my first thought was that it was a hoax or something. It's surreal.
I hope his family and friends/groupmates are okay. :(

IIRC, he was really open about struggling with depression. Even talked about it on his radio show.
That's a tough battle by itself, but I would imagine being an idol makes it that much harder. :/

I've already seen a lot of netizen comments saying "oh he was successful, talented, and wealthy!" as if that makes someone immune to mental illness.

A loooot of successful people have Depression. It's like creatives are inclined toward Depression or some kind of mental illness. I understand that success doesn't make you suddenly not have depression (I'm Bipolar myself, it sometimes gets away from me) it's just... such a loss to the creative community. He wrote, he produced, he was genuinely talented as a singer and dancer.

And way, way too many artists die at the age of 27 (Looks like he was added to the 27 club on Wikipedia).

That is really, really sad. Depression attacks from the inside, and it can be so difficult for anyone on the outside to even see or understand what's going on, let alone do anything to make any real improvement.

It really doesn't help that South Korea's views on mental illness are backwards as all hell. Phil Defranco actually mentioned this in his video today and he explains it pretty well:

Interesting that the code for that video starts with "HopE" haha.

OK, I guess it's Phil Ochs' birthday, although he's long gone.
Here's my favorite song by him...
