I got to to see Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy yesterday. It was so amazing. They played a lot of my favorite FF songs, some that I loved since I was a kid (even though I heard the SNES versions). They even performed the Opera from FFVI and I almost cried. It's a dream come true. It was a dream come true to see Nobuo Uematsu in person. Apparently he's not always at every concert, but Chicago is special because it's Arnie Roth (the conductor)'s hometown.

edit: Just want to put this here

If, like me, you like shoegaze, this article might be of interest:

There's a group mentioned named RUBUR that I'd never heard of, who is really good:

Idk how accurate the translation is, but there is English CC on this. The album is on US Spotify!

So, um, I just got around to watching this, and, as expected of Moh, it was great. I already liked Mitsushima as an actress; I don't remembering ever knowing she could sing and dance. The MV is meant to look like it is shot in one take. For that reason, it's slightly reminiscent of a Sia/Maddie Ziegler video. The song itself is very atmospheric. From my limited understanding the translation seems fairly accurate.

ODESZA - Across the Room (feat. Leon Bridges)

I've been enjoying this album a lot. It's pretty chill. :music:
If you have an hour to kill, the full thing is actually on their official YouTube page.

Edit 9/20: Amuro Namie announced that she's retiring next September.

Related to this, over the past few days I've noticed several channels or acts no longer being blocked (at least for the US). Specifically, I tried a Backstage PASS video on a whim yesterday and was surprised I could watch it, today I found out ColumbiaJP videos are no longer blocked, and earlier in the week ponycanyon and AKB.

I either gave up trying a long time ago or don't keep up with these channels, so I don't know how long it's been like this. Regardless, it's always nice to see more content become available. Now if Sony would jump in..

Oh whoa. She was one of my big faves back in the day, although I have to admit I haven't been really paying attention the last few years...

If only! I'd add Victor/flying DOG to that, too.

Namie is STILL one of my faves, girl has been solid since debut, but I understand her want to retire since she's close to 40. She never really projected her age though, even when she switched to hiphop.

My favorite artist is Ayumi Hamasaki and I feel like she needs to go the same direction. Her other ear is starting to go deaf now too and I think she needs to get out before she goes completely deaf.

Oh I do still love Namie, I just haven't been keeping up with non H!P J-Pop artists these last few years. I'll have to catch up!
