In sad news, Origa passed away at 44 from lung cancer.

I didn't follow her super closely, but her music was great. Some of y'all might recognise her from Ghost in the Shell.

Damn, that's so sad :( She had an incredibly good voice. I knew her from Fantastic Children, which I loved a lot. :(

Fixed that for you. That is Yoko Kanno's music. Origa was only the vocalist.

Yes, she was a great vocalist and she will be missed, but credit where credit is due.

I think I got lost following her when there were a lot of random digital singles rather than proper releases.

I've been listening to her songs again in the past few days. I'm reminded again of why she's the first Asian artist I've been really into since 2003 and also my #1 for the longest time. Well, she's still my #1 soloist, really. I think it's amazing that her K-Pop and J-Pop careers have always been separate, and she also did it way before a ton of Korean artists started doing it. There were some crossovers with her songs, of course, but for the most part her Korean songs sounded pretty different from her Japanese ones. She was also huge in both countries, at least for many years. I remember reading somewhere years ago that she only had a few days off per year. Whenever I listen to her songs I always think about how she's always been such a hard worker.

lol, I'd do some sort of ranking thing, but it'd take forever.

FLY is also another one of my favorites from her recent releases.

---------------

edit: Seriously loving The SeeYa right now <3 The girls are obviously super pretty, but there's something less plastic about them compared to other K-Pop girl groups... like actually wearing normal clothes.

This song actually has Lee Hae-Ri from Davichi in the original version, but this video (without her) is my favorite performance of this song because of the harmonies in the chorus. I love the chorus <3

Cancer is truly a horrible thing. I don't recognize her voice, so I don't know of her, but my condolences to her fans, friends and family. R.I.P Origa.
(And really Celedram, this isn't an appopriate time to get all factual).
Spoiler: show
Here is my list of idols to listen to:
Team Syachihoko - Colors http://youtu.be/DS3PUg7uMRIl
Party Rockets - KASABUTA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYKVYNGynPY
SUPER GiRLS - Ahhahha! ~Chouzetsu Bakushou Ondo~
http://youtu.be/LbsnaZCGYdE
La Pom Pon - BUMP!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ddPMcKlvZo
Photograph - Sora iro Everyday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n0jySJ5qw4
GALETTe - She is WANNABE! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x29356 ... _lifestyle
Shooting Star Girls- Senkou Rider
http://youtu.be/puppAUQNvUY

Any Shooting Star Girls music is good really, same for SUPER GiRLS. I'd also suggest listening to Party Rocket's debut album TRIANGLE.

Most of these groups, I'm not really a fan of (with the exception of Shooting Star Girls, SUPER GiRLS. and Party Rockets, but these are idol groups who I find talented/amazing.

That's nice and interesting :-o

Spoiler: show
Also, I'm checking out slowly slowly a lot of the posted music in this thread(I don't have much time these days) and it's in no particular order XP I end up not-liking many of those songs but I also get to like a lot of the music. Now I'll just throw in that Chelsy are very nice though imo at some points they stick way too much to the generic chord sequences, and Bellring have some amazing indie-rock vibe(I've watched only the official MVs and I'll listen to their albums soon)
There's a lot of music that I do check out "at the moment" and I leave my opinion for then too, though.

I don't know what I was expecting from that collab, but it certainly wasn't that. That was awesome.

I never knew I needed this video until now.

What the hell, I'm so fscking proud of Miyavi. My middle-school self is excited as can be for him, since I'd never anticipated his career taking this sort of path lol. Also, this song is pretty good. (The last thing of his that I listened to was probably Girls Be Ambitious hahaha)
