If AKB only peaked at 9 on the oricon charts then I'd say it's no longer a good indicator. AKB is still a massive money maker.

I have to wonder if AKB is the reason for all the new rules, or at least part of the reason. Their domination is mostly because they know how to play the game. I know EXILE Tribe was playing the game and got smacked down for it by Oricon too, but I still think AKB is the driving force behind all this. Still, it's stupid. AKB knowing how to play the game means other companies should step it up, not they should be punished for knowing how to get ahead.

The other artist was the one that peaked at #9, which he has over 32 million views on YouTube. Comparing to AKB48 having only over 3 million views for #SukiNanda. They're technically saying that CD sales might not be reliable in this era; and it all makes sense that Oricon is trying to go that path.

I don't think it makes sense with way Oricon is doing it. Billboard basically did the opposite here in the states - instead of restricting, it counts Youtube watches of the official video (As those videos are monetized and they make money for every view) AND it counts Youtube videos that have the music in it (Hence "Harlem Shake" doing so well on the charts). It counts every play in things like Google Play Music or Spotify, radio plays (Which I think needs an adjustment considering how the radio industry is nowadays), ON TOP of single sales. That's the true indicator of popularity. If Oricon counted Youtube views, that dude would have easily been number one.

The JASRAC copyright database has listed a bunch of unannounced Morning Musume. '17 songs written by Tsunku (the songs listed after the new single, and not Pharaoh no Haka stage play soundtrack songs). A possibility of an album in the works? or more unreleased/digital songs to be performed at the upcoming concert?

Wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to try and get out an album right on the edge (of either side) of Haruka's graduation, or just sometime before the end of the year. I'm just going to hope that's what it is.

We're definitely overdue for an MM. album. We're overdue for an ANGERME album, too.
They could easily do the whole 2 or 3 CD thing like J=J and Kobushi.

^ I assume that's just how albums are going to work now; multiple discs and one or two music videos. Which to me seems like more than enough to make up for them not being released yearly.

If it is 2-3 discs does that mean we can expect some new updateds? I mean that would make sense for a new line-up and 20th anniversary.

I would personally be down for a new updated version if it means new line distributions.

If an album ends up having 2 discs I expect one disc to be singles that have not yet been released on an album, and the other disc to be new songs.

Edit: On another note, I really want Ichioka's eventual group to cover "Shiroi TOKYO".

Random Musing: Masaki's voice often has the same energy/affectation as an Electric Violin I think. I think both can be an acquired taste. There's that high pitch screechy/squeaky quality but it packs a huge punch emotionally. I used to listen to Sarina and Emilie Autumn all the time so I think that's why I was so attracted to her voice when I first heard it clearly in One Two Three.

In other news, I was watching the latest performance of Kimi no Kawari ni and Sakura has really hit on how to add a lot of emotion to her own performances. I remember her struggling to match Riho in that way back when that song first came out, but now she's just got it. She and Masaki are performance powerhouses for sure. (Though so are many of the other girls, Platinum level powerhouses now)

I think nowadays Maachan sings in a lower octave^ although she does go chirpy still but it is more rare

Today on a TV show special "Dash de ItteQ!" (DASHでイッテQ!), they showed this one TV announcer from NTV that butchered Morning Musume's "16 and "17" name for the past 2 years. Then he got called out on the net.

funny video clip

:grinning:

Hopefully he will get Morning Musume. '18 right next year.

Recently I've been acquiring the missing concerts in my H!P collection going back all the way to 1998.
Most things can still be purchased, other have to be special ordered, very few downloaded, another few were never released.

I've also been ripping and encoding them (for easy playback and streaming on various devices throughout the house) and at the same time trying to sort them all chronologically (by when the concerts took place and not the release date on DVD/Blu-ray).

I've hit a bit of a snag with the last bit.

Specifically these two:

Hello! Project 2005 Winter ~A HAPPY NEW POWER!~ Akagumi
Hello! Project 2005 Winter ~A HAPPY NEW POWER!~ Shirogumi

These were FC only releases so I've pretty much given up on getting my hands on a physical copy of them but I did get hold of the .ISO files of each.
The problem is: I have no clue when the concerts released on those DVD's were actually recorded (other than early 2005).

Does anyone here have any idea of the exact date these were actually recorded?

The various wiki's and message boards (English and Japanese) have given me no answer, which usually isn't a problem as the actual record date is almost always mentioned on the actual DVD/Blu-ray case. But that's not a option with these two.

Thanks in advance for any answers :notworthy:

Do you use Yahoo! Auctions (via proxy, because Y!A doesn't let you buy things otherwise)? Somebody's selling them in a set.

Anyway, closest I could find is that they were filmed at Nakano Sunplaza, the dates of which were Jan 4th-6th (and 3rd, but that was Akagumi only).

^ It makes sense; she debuted in Hello! Project before Ruru did. Just like Funaki is ahead of Kawamura, and back when we had a similar situation Fujimoto was ahead of the rest of 6th gen.
