They probably weren't actually watching it and just needed something boring to go to sleep to :fear: .

(Just kidding.)

that makes me curious what was going on on this episode of AKBINGO that brought in higher ratings than the norm. maybe they finally did something other than dodgeball?!

Don't forget that Miyamoto Karin was also on this episode, so maybe she helped a bit as well :D

edit: I see a flaw in she assumption that AKB fans jumped right into the show

AKBINGO! 3.3%→Suugaku 1.7% 第7回 研修生(旧エッグ)

AKBINGO! 4.1%→Suugaku 1.6% 第6回 嗣永桃子(Berryz工房)
AKBINGO! 4.3%→Suugaku 1.6% 第1回 道重さゆみ(モーニング娘。)
AKBINGO! 4.0%→Suugaku 1.3% 第4回 吉川友

AKBINGO! 3.2%→Suugaku 1.0% 第3回 須藤茉麻(Berryz工房)

By checking the first 6 ratings in that list (that are out of order actually: 10, 5, 9, 2....) it would seem that there's a linear dependence of viewers, but there were other 3 akbingo shows that went over 4% while Suugaku remained low (the ones in italic). Actually Suugaku's ratings were very stable across the board, and the jump from the previous episode is 58% (2.7 from 1.7), while akbingo is 5.0 from 3.4, a 47% increase.

So I guess it's not akbingo's viewers who deserve all the credit for the jump in ratings, Mano and Karin had something to do with it.

Since both shows had a bigger audience then normal my conclusion would be that it was another show that had an impact on the ratings. Maybe another show on another channel wasn't on that evening. And that could impact the ratings in 2 ways, it could give AKB and Suugaku more viewers. Or, since the numbers are given in percentages there could have been less people watching TV in total that night therefor giving higher rates for both shows without more people that watch it. It depends on how they actually count these ratings.

I haven't seen it yet but I think this past week's AKBINGO was part 2 of some kind of AKB (or possibly DiVA) singing competition. So maybe it got higher ratings for that reason.
