I actually like Dekkai a lot, but for the love of God they should find another song to use on this festival.

Random: When I look at Kaedy and Ogata I feel as though they both have a certain mysterious Quality 'X' in common, and they are lowkey trying to compete as to who is the most 'X' between them.

For better or worse, it's their tradition. It's similar to how Jerry Lewis (may he rest in peace) sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" and the end of his telethon each year.

They sing it again because everyone knows the lyrics. Even that Arashi guy was singing it. They sang I wish before too. Love Machine with OG members too.

Also before starting, it was mentioned that the song was written by Tsunku specifically for the show. Maybe that's the reason why they keep singing it, until a new song is written or permission given to sing a song not made for the show.

Yeah I know all that, probably from the last time I whinged and you guys made these (completely valid) rebuttals. Nevertheless I still feel like it is slightly trapping them in an era, and that's not a good thing for a pop group. Celedam, I see your point about Jerry Lewis's tradition, but I think it somewhat supports my point in that Lewis was treated with respect and deference as a kind of fossil of a bygone age. That danged telethon seemed like an oldies hit parade when I was a kid, and that was eons ago. Same issue with Amped's pointing out that "I Wish" and "LM" were in the songlist. My feeling is that unless they are content with that sort of elder-statesman "respect", they have to get the population at large to see they're relevant to 2017, not 2002. (And no, I don't mean to update Dekkai with a hip hop beat.) At the same time I know that Japan really likes to rehash the late-Shouwa early Heisei oldies over and over again, so...whatevs.

To Zunu's argument though there are songs that are "newer" that would work as well such as Ame no furanai, THE VISION, Asu wo Tsukuru no wa Kimi, etc. All of them have the same-ish feeling (We need to work hard because the world is beautiful or whatever).
