In an interview, Tsunku says Morning Musume's songs are different from the past. Their cool EDM songs are much darker. He says he wants to bring back bright and fun songs like the old days.

It would be nice to have a mixture. "Utakata" being popular among fans makes me think some fun Tsunku songs would do pretty well. Just don't dress them like chickens again, even if 2017 is the Year of the Rooster.

^ But I like the chicken song ... and it is great because no one else can make that kind of song.

I like the song fine, and the costumes would've been a cute little thing in a bonus album PV or something - but I didn't dig them so much as the main focus of a single.

Tsunku is going produce a new project called "Uta no Harajuku hokoten", a live stream show on SHOWROOM
http://www.billboard-japan.com/d_news/detail/46069/2Tsunku wants to bring back the 1980's culture where street performers used to have fun and sing every Sunday on a famous street, to the current era.
Hokoten is a shortened version of the Japanese phrase Hokousha Tengoku (歩行者天国) which means "pedestrian paradise". In Japan, the term is used to refer to streets that are closed off to vehicle traffic so that people (pedestrians) can enjoy walking on the road, watching street performers and musicians, having a bite to eat in the middle of the road, and socializing.
Harajuku Hokoten - Perhaps the most famous of all Tokyo Hokoten, the Harajuku Hokoten used to take place on the part of Omotesando street that runs through Yoyogi Park. Unfortunately, this Hokoten was shut down by the Tokyo Government around 1995 and is no longer active.

I like that idea (of the original hokoten, and Tsunku's attempt to revive it, at least in spirit). I hope it works!
