there's a fine line though between giving her shit, and teasing for entertainment. which is why i think for the most part shes handled herself quite well.
she's stayed humble and resilient, at teasing by Sayu and other talents, which is bound to happen with any idol but this specifically works towards her benefit.

a lot of idols in variety programs get treated like shit in Japan for comedy, an example of this is Eripon, and some stuff they do on Mechaike like with Momochi.
they get called ugly, annoying and get publicly humiliated. Zukki being a healthy, chubby, girl with a good sense of humour is no exception to this.

if we want her to appear on TV more as a comedian, than being picked at for being a bit big is something she has to acknowledge to progress and right now she has used to garner herself more attention and sympathy among fans.

See, I personally have seen just one person complaing about Sayu's follow up. And that was on tumblr. Don't know what went on here but from my experiences it seems Zukki fans are aware of how the whole chubby character is going to work.
So I just found that to be a bit generalizing.
