Probably. But it's not as unattractive as you think. Imo this position was chosen in order not to superpose her legs with her dress. This would be because of the color balance. For example in many cases you can't just go with whatever the position it is if you have a dark background - the mix of the red dress with her skin if not situated properly may ruin the entire conception. See, you've got to maintain a proper, well known shape (triangle, square, N-agon, etc...) as a base for the most striking elements of the picture at least at a local level and it's this shape what will maintain the balance and the contrasts. And in that case it's the red dress what's serving as a center.

And her knee turned out to reach that position because the crossed legs probably give an image of elegance and self-confidence (or something like that) much more than if she had her legs, like, side by side.

And I guess the proof they're doing it right is that almost nobody noticed it at first glance.

Agreed on her expression. I've never found the girl strikingly pretty or anything (she looks.. tired? on most pictures) but she looks pretty bad here.

Yurina looks great though, I just wish she was like, slouching less? I know that's not her fault, that's how they directed her to be.
