Actually that's kind of a good point. If she WAS in C-ute Maimi and certainly Chisato wouldn't have gotten the attention they did from Tsunku/UF*/whoever makes decisions.

I quit one of the pioneering video game companies just before they started in on what turned out to be a groundbreaking project. A friend who I had recruited for the job stayed on, and later became a game producer for Disney.

Do I regret quitting? A bit, but not a whole lot. Life is life, and there's always more to the story than the bare bones of what happened. Comparing the paths that my friend and I followed in each of our lives since then, I can see that they have overall been determined much more by the qualities and experiences that we carried in ourselves than by my choice to quit, and her choice to stay on.

I would guess that with Megumi, the story is equally complicated -- and needless to say, at 26, she's hardly a has-been.

Agree. And I'm pretty sure she - and all the other girls who voluntarily quit because of one reason or another - understood what she was doing at that time. Idol life isn't really for everyone, even to girls who appear to have "it". And Megumi wouldn't have known at that time that C-ute will grow up to be one of H!P's most reliable groups.

We don't know for sure. Official version is she quit to return to being a normal student/focus on her studies but as it happened right after some paparazzi photos, it could be either (her parents being like WHAT THE HELL PAPPARAZZIS or the mangement being like WHAT THE HELL, A BOYFRIEND).
