And that you people really believe in the sanctity of marriage an awful lot; that's rather weird to me.
Why get married if your not going to even try to be monogamous? That is weird to me, in this world it seems marriage is practically the same as dating.
That depends on your marriage. I know two couples who are married and in poly amorous relationships (Open Marriage, as you would call it). It works for them and it's none of my business how they run their marriage. A male and a female can get married for any reason, "Sanctity" has never existed, regardless of what people say. Hell, Marriage for LOVE is a NEW concept (Like last 300 years), most marriage's back in the day were for power or property, or even just so Dad A could get along better with Dad B. People treating marriage as some kind of in-fathomable, beautiful thing full of love and awesome are kidding themselves. Hell, marriage as a choice is fairly new. Marriage was a thing you did, not something you chose to do because your love was beautiful (BTW it's still like this in some parts of the world).
Marriage nowadays is a personal thing. If it means a lot to you, that's great, but it might not mean as much to your friend. AND THAT'S OKAY. I've been with my boyfriend for 8 years, we don't feel any lesser than a married couple because we aren't married. We just don't feel marriage is important enough in our lifestyle. We're still monogamous, we're in love, and we're close. We really don't need to be married. However, my friend and her boyfriend got married within six months of meeting because marriage was important to her. Marriage is different to everyone and I hate that people try to put definitions on it.
On Mari: What she did was wrong, cheating is wrong. BUT it's not really our business on how they as a couple handle it. If they stick it out and work it out, good for them. We also don't really know the root cause of her cheating, it could be as simple as she was bored or very very complicated with a lot of murky grey areas (Shocking I know, but it does happen. There are good reasons for doing bad things, after all) and we'll probably never know. Just try not to be too judgmental as we'll never know 100% of the story
