I'm guessing thats the album version? Really not used to Magic of love having an electro beat.
That edm build up when Sayuki was having her adlib was so unnecessary. I hope its not autotuned.

I feel like they were trying to give the song more life, which they did at the beginning of it. For the rest, the EDM mixed with the original beat doesn't really work for me.

I'm trying to hear what you guys are hearing but all I can make out are the girls singing and the instrumental doesn't seem so bad to me? I was expecting the worst and all I got was some epic vocal exercises from Sayuki.

^ Same, at first listen (without paying attention too much) it didn't sound bad. I'll listen to it again more closely later, but for now it seems like they just sorta updated the instrumentals to prevent it from sounding like an old recording, and added stuff here and there.

Bits of "Magic of Love" were kind of distracting, but for me it was things that I'm sure won't be as bad recorded. They didn't seem to fully warm up until two songs in, which led to me not really getting into it until mid-way through "Date Janai.." (roughly).

Sayuki made some weird faces during the first few songs. Those were lots of fun.

There's this thing called different perspectives.

I'm not saying that the song sounds bad or that the performance was bad, because it's still a great song and the members still delivered a fantastic performance. I've just been used to the original instrumental for so many years, so now hearing it mixed with some basic EDM sounds, I'm kinda "eh " with it. I already knew that they were going to update it though, as it's a cover and the original has been out for YEARS.

I think Sayuki is easily the best vocalist in J=J now, and she's top 5 in H!P. These few live performances pushed me over the edge. J=J used to be all about Karin, but the other members have finally caught up. Was it here that I read reports of Karin losing popularity in Japan? I don't think it's surprising when you see how much her band mates are growing when she's very stable. It's not a bad thing to be constantly good, but she isn't as "special" anymore as the other members can hold their own. She even used to be my favourite, but Yuka took that spot.
